Whitewater kayaking is an excellent way to challenge yourself, get fit, and see beautiful places accessible only by kayak. With whitewater kayaking you can take things as far as you want to go or as relaxed as you like. Whether you want to learn to kayak off of waterfalls and run class IV whitewater or if you want to be proficient enough to run class II and III rapids, we can get you on the right track.

Introduction to Whitewater Kayaking: Lessons & River Trips

Thinking whitewater kayaking might be for you? This two to three hour sampler gives participants a ’hands on’ introduction into whitewater kayaking.

Learn basic strokes and paddling technique, and to wet exit. Participants can also attempt an Eskimo roll after instruction. Participants will have a chance to learn about the ratings of rapids, reading whitewater, and the option to paddle a couple of class I-II rapids.

Trips run July through September on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 9am and 2pm, or by appointment.

$100/person for a 2-3 hour experience

Sign up for our summer lessons to further your introduction into whitewater kayaking!

Our summer sessions begin on flat water on the St. Louis River to learn basic kayak control and technique, learn to wet exit, practice rolls, and rescue. From here we will progress to class I and II whitewater to refine our skills and learn to read whitewater.

Advanced lessons are available upon request.
